PROFESSOR BRYCE EDDY
JJ Machado Black Belt
As a lifelong martial artist and grappler, Bryce has studied under the legendary Master Jean Jacques Machado for more than 25 years. As a Defensive Tactics Instructor at Covered 6, he has spent years focusing on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a fighting art rather than a sport and carries that philosophy into his teaching. At Covered 6, Bryce is a key team member in developing and honing Defensive Tactics, Arrest & Control Techniques & Active Shooter Defense.
Bryce believes that Jiu Jitsu training is training for real life and that the foundation of Jiu Jitsu is that you will get out of it exactly what you invest into it. This is one of the most profound lessons in our life's journey. Jiu Jitsu is an activity that you cannot purchase or buy in pursuit of mastery. Simply put, you must invest time and effort. We are all allotted the same 24 hrs a day in our 7 day week. Time management and personal effort are the key ingredients in any activity, and understanding that that cannot be obtained in instant gratification will be the key to your success on and off the mat.
This is the secret for how ordinary people become extraordinary people, and Bryce teaches this personal performance method on the platform of Machado Jiu Jitsu. This is what makes training in Jiu Jitsu a model for leading a successful life.
By using Jiu Jitsu as a platform, many of life’s lessons are presented on the mat. Bryce often stresses that there is no secret training method in Jiu Jitsu, it’s just a matter of hard work and perseverance. And that means showing up. It should also be noted that these are the same tools that are needed in real life to be successful - this is true in both kids and adults. Finally, Bryce believes that the medium of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu makes the activity of self-defense and personal growth fun when delivered on the platform of Jiu Jitsu.
Bryce lives in Ventura County with his wife and three daughters. He loves his community and is active in making sure places like 805 BJJ exist for our future generations and our current one. Bryce has a true passion for life, fitness, and personal development and understands the focus and commitment required to achieve one’s goals.
Additionally, Bryce is a CrossFit Coach (CF-LC1) and believes that a functional fitness focus is part of a necessary approach to being “Hard to Kill” and with this well-rounded athleticism, was a fierce competitor in the early days of submission grappling.
